A little while ago I got a very sad, (but all too common) letter from an aspiring trader. It was about how he had been making serious profits and then BAM, losing it all in minutes. I talk about this topic a lot because it has such a strong place in my own trading experience.
And that is exactly what Johan wrote me about. He has been doing great for 3 weeks in a row, and he got caught up in the sideways market. First getting into one trade, then spiraling out of control and not only losing all his profits, but emptying out his entire account.
Before he knew it, he was out $5,400!
He was desperate. And he's not the only one. He got caught in a nasty sideways trend.
I like to call that area a 'Trader's Worst Enemy'. The main reason is because it is literally where you can lose all your profits for the day, week or even months in just minutes. It's vomit-inducing (I'll share more about THAT story later).
