Why memestocks are so appealing

I found this article fascinating
Hey there!

I read a fascinating article recently.

It basically explained why meme stock investing is so appealing to so many people.

And I think it made some really valuable points…

Claim a FREE Echo Trades Pick Wednesday
Echo Trades — the system created by a little-known Tennessee farmer that grew his family's trading accounts to $1.4 million in 2020 — is BACK!!

On Wednesday, June 23 at 1:00 PM (this afternoon!), Jeffry Turnmire is going LIVE with Rob Booker to teach the system to anyone who missed out the first time.

And, as a show of thanks, Jeffry's going to share an Echo Trades pick with everyone who attends FOR FREE.

That article points out some of the challenges folks today are facing in trying to save for the future.

Median household incomes have stagnated since the 1980s, while other expenses such as student loan debt, essentials, and health care costs are much higher.

So when you hear your kids or grandkids complain about how tough things are these days, there's some truth to it!

But the point isn't to throw a pity party.

The point the article makes is that young folks are looking for a way to take back control.

And one way they're doing it is by investing in "meme stocks."

You know meme stocks: they're the kinds of stocks like GameStop and AMC that have gained value not because of their own worth but because of excitement generated by online investors.

Some cryptos, most notably Dogecoin, would also fall into this category.

The point the article makes is that these kinds of meme investments are the outlet of young people who feel like they have no other option.

And for some of them, they're working!

Others crash and burn hard though.

Which is why, like any investment, you want to make moonshot trades just one part of your portfolio.

The author recommended 5%, but really, the percentage is up to you and how much you can afford to potentially lose.

But the point is, just buying stocks and holding them won't work as well these days as it might once have.

This quote from the article really stuck with me: "In a country where the average 34-year-old only has $14,852 in net worth, buying an S&P 500 ETF won't fund retirement (let alone a house down payment)."

That's why some folks find trading for moonshots so appealing.

And I think what we do is a healthy balance of both. It's not just chasing the wildest and most risky investments, but it is smartly moving money in and out of the market to try and grow it more aggressively than buy and hold strategies.

I wanted to make sure to share that article with you since I got so much out of it. Hope it tells you something about the way money works in 2021.
