There are a multitude of terms one must learn to become a profitable trader. While some of them may seem complicated, the concepts behind them are actually pretty simple to understand. One of the main indicators that Josh Martinez likes to use when looking for trade opportunities is a U-turn. A U-turn shows when market sentiment is making a major shift, helping us find the right place to buy into a trade. But believe it or not, fake U-turns do happen, and they can happen to anyone regardless of trading experience. "If you're not willing to react with equanimity to a market price decline of 50% two or three times a century, you're not fit to be a common shareholder and you deserve the mediocre result you're going to get."
― Charlie Munger Charlie is basically saying that if you can't stay calm when the market experiences one of its rare crashes, you probably shouldn't be in trading. Yes, the idea of losing money is scary for anyone. But here's what you need to know: you're going to lose money sometimes. Those losses, however, will be temporary as your winning trades will outnumber them. But when traders see a crash looming on the horizon, they panic and dump everything they have. The problem with that approach is that you're unlikely to get back in when things turn around. Or you'll buy too late and miss the rebound. The best thing to do is remain calm and let your trading plan guide you. Your emotions will betray you when it comes to the market.

Hypothetical or Simulated Results Our educational products rely upon hypothetical or simulated performance results. These results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under-or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown. | |
