3 Stocks to look at Post-Election

October 26th, 2020

One of the things you have likely heard about this year is 5G. The news surrounding 5G has made the public question what exactly is it, what does it do, and why does it matter? So, today, we'll be answering all the general questions surrounding 5G.

5G, Explained

In the simplest terms, 5G is merely the successor to 4G technology. 5G technology is the 5th Generation of Mobile Networks. It is built to set a new, faster, global standard for wireless internet connectivity.

When 4G was released in 2010, the technology that followed after went on to change how we use the internet. 4G bought us the rise of Snapchat & Uber. It gave us LTE mobile video calls, which ultimately changed the way we connect. It was also during this time that we saw where we use the internet. During the 4G era, a lot of people switched from using the internet primarily on laptops and computers to mostly using the internet on their phones.

As we enter the 5G era, we will begin to experience an even faster way to connect to the internet. This will be possible through bigger channels and the ability to connect to a lot more devices at once.

5G and the Stock Market

Since 5G signifies a new way of connecting to the internet, it's only natural that technology companies use 5G as a new selling point. Because our society is expected to become more reliant on technology, 5G is sure to help tech companies surge in the stock market. Samsung and Apple (NASDAQ: APPL) have already announced their 5G phones, while AT&T (NYSE: T) T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) & Verizon (NYSE: VZ) are expected to enjoy an increase of stock value as consumers adapt to 5G.

It's also worth keeping an eye on 5G Infrastructure companies like Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT) and MACOM Technologies (NASDAQ: MTSI), two companies that specialize in manufacturing materials for electronic chips.

No matter how you look at it, 5G technology is a sign of the world evolving right in front of us. Experts have said that 5G is sure to be a winning stock, no matter who wins the upcoming election. Anyone can see that, as people start making the move to 5G compatible phones, the value of phone manufacturers and wireless companies will rise, again.
