And while I would have loved to tag along, I had just started on a new career path as an energy consultant and needed to spend some hands-on time learning the ropes. So, I had to stay behind in West Virginia for the time being.
Fortunately, I had the option to work from home periodically. And as such, every two weeks or so, I would make the 6-hour drive from Morgantown up to NYC on Thursday night, stay the weekend, and head back home on Sunday or Monday.
The decade I spent as a touring musician instilled in me a genuine love of driving, so I always looked forward to making the trek.
