Hey Trader,
So the now-infamous online broker Robinhood announced they're going to run their largest ever brand campaign.
… Including a Super Bowl commercial spot in order to clean their image (much needed).
Well, guess what?
A user inside WallStreetBets' forum posted the following:
"We should buy a Super Bowl ad (f*** Robinhood)"
(WallStreetBets is the sub-forum that rallied millions of traders to buy GME stock and squeeze the hedge fund shorts.)
Now at first sight, this may seem like an impossible idea.
But the post gained traction…
So much, in fact, that they opened a GoFundMe account and are currently raising money to finance the ad.
The math is easy:
A 30-second ad run during the Super Bowl typically costs around $3 million...
...and their forum currently has roughly 8.5 million followers.
So if only 3 million people donated $2 each, they would have more than enough money to pay for the spot and produce the actual ad.
Even actor Leslie David Baker from TV show The Office has offered his resources to help make it real.
So what do you think?
Will we see an ad funded by WallStreetBets come up during the Super Bowl?
I guess we'll have to wait!
