This Week in the Market

It seems like nothing can slow down this bullish market as major indexes settled at all-time highs yet again. Delta variant and inflation fears slowed the market early last week, but buyers controlled the rest of the week into the close. Looking forward to this week, some high-profile expected earnings announcements could sway the market. The key word in that last sentence is "could," as a bullish to non-bearish sentiment remains justified for now. Implied volatility levels spiked but receded as the week wore on. The VIX closed just above recent support levels.

Expect a lot of bullish and bearish moves after those big-name earnings announcements, which is typical. Apple, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft and Tesla are just a few names slated to announce. In addition, the Federal Reserve has another meeting on Wednesday, but rates are expected to go nowhere. However, the Fed might offer some thoughts about the future of rates, which could move the market. Besides the FOMC, several other significant economic reports are due this week and listed below. Have a great week and look for those expected earnings releases before taking any trades!

Jul 26: New Home Sales
Jul 27: Durable Goods
Jul 27: Consumer Confidence
Jul 28: Advance Trade in Goods
Jul 28: FOMC
Jul 29: Jobless Claims
Jul 29: GDP
Jul 30: Personal Income

Extreme moves frequently reveal correlations between market sectors. Under normal

MTM Watchlist

Here are several trade ideas we will be watching in group coaching class this coming week:

JPM – The stock is hanging out at some potential support around the $150 level. Potential calendars around that level will be looked at.

NFLX – After moving lower last week, the stock looks poised to potentially move higher yet again. Bull call spreads will be examined if the stock can break above its 200-day moving average.

IBM – The stock continued to trade sideways even after announcing last week. Tight iron condors will be considered around the $140 levels.
