Stock Futures Rise Following Upbeat Inflation Data By: Jacob Scott After initially struggling for direction, stock futures are turning higher this morning following the release of better-than-expected inflation data. According to the U.S. Labor Department, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 5.3% year-over-year, and 0.3% from July, both of which came in below Wall Street's expectations. In response, futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) are up triple digits, while S&P 500 Index (SPX) and Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) futures are modestly higher as well.
