Livent Corp said it’s buying a lithium mine in Quebec out of bankruptcy. Livent currently produces lithium in Argentina. The company also extended a lithium supply contract with Tesla through 2021. ➤ The first satellite for 6G networks launched. With the 5G rollout well underway, China looked to the future by delivering the world’s first 6G satellite. State media claimed the next-generation network could be 100 times faster than current tech. ➤ The natural gas industry welcomed President-elect Joe Biden. The Democratic president could be good news for liquefied natural gas (LNG) companies, the American Petroleum Institute said in a Bloomberg interview. As Vice President, Biden approved all six of America’s currently operating LNG export terminals. ➤ Democrats and Republicans agreed to buy uranium. The Senate Appropriations Committee approved $150 million to buy uranium as part of a strategic reserve for the coming year. The committee’s chairman said there’s bipartisan support for the uranium stockpile, which will now move to the planning stages. ➤ The world's battery metals might come from the ocean. Deep-sea mining of cobalt, nickel, and copper could become reality this decade, said a report from the World Economic Forum.
