View in Web Browser This is a lesson every trader needs to learn at some point.   And then probably learn again and again after that, because we keep forgetting it.   The news doesn’t matter.   If you’re trading a pattern like Echo Trades, that relies on real market technicals to identify entries and exits, you could give a care about the news.   Yesterday, we hit a key level on SPX futures and we pulled back sharply. It just so happened that this lined up with the tax news drop from yesterday that scared so many traders.   I got this message from one of my friends, Doug: Well, I don’t want to spoil the image that I’m some sort of magician, but it’s just the reality of the Echo Trades system.   Today, we hit a new ATH on SPX. I said it was coming during my live session on Wednesday.   What made it suddenly drop today? Another tax hike?   No, the news doesn’t matter.    The technicals tell us all we need to know.   Look at this chart: Do we think that SPX hit right on the target line — and then pulled back — because of some big coincidence?    No. It’s the technicals of the market and the system that correctly predict these moves time and time again.    Traders say that when the reaction happens when the news drops, it’s because of the news. Yeah right.   Then they say that when the reaction doesn’t happen (because the news hit mid cycle), they claim it was baked in.   I have a better idea: the technicals are what the technicals are, and the circumstances don’t make a difference.
