Over the past year, gas prices have surged an incredible 500%. While increased consumption following the pandemic is partially to blame, Contributing Analyst Jody Chudley also attributes the price hikes to the energy sector's hairpin turn from fossil fuels to renewables. Gas giants, once fossil fuel hard-liners, have seen the writing on the wall and are going green - but they're cutting down on drilling faster than they can make the conversion.
