Germany's Scholz says that not enough citizens are vaccinated, have to do more

Germany posted a record 50,196 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours That marks a fourth consecutive record daily number of cases, with the figure exceeding 50,000 for the first time today. Scholz's plea comes as vaccinations have plateaued in Europe's biggest economy, with roughly 67% of the population being fully vaccinated.

ECB rate hike bets back on the menu

Rates pricing swings back the other way Eonia futures for the September 2022 meeting is now fully pricing in a 10 bps move by the ECB, after having earlier this week positioned for a move in December 2022 instead; the latter is now seeing a 20 bps rate hike priced in.

Little change overall to kick start the session There's not much to take away from risk sentiment as we get things going on the day, though US futures are holding up after the drop in the past two days. S&P 500 futures are up 0.2%, Nasdaq futures up 0.3%, and Dow futures are flat for now.

Daily thread to exchange ideas and to share your thoughts But did the report really tell us anything new as a whole? I'm not too convinced. The numbers are definitely jarring but Fed's Daly was quick to address that and the central bank's stance yesterday . I'd expect more Fed policymakers to rebuff that view.

Bank of England: Still on track for rate hikes

Taking a step back  Heading into the Bank of England meeting last week investors were fully pricing in a 15bps hike to 0.25% with a further four 25bps being priced in for 2022. In the end the Bank of England sorely disappointed markets and the MPC vote was 7-2 in favour fo keeping rates unchanged. Saunders

Related to this over the weekend: The amount he has sold is not 10% of his holding, but he has gotten a start.  He had 17m - odd shares, so still has plenty to offload ahead.
